Description
62 x 76 This is a traditional American utility quilt featuring a hand-pieced Bow Tie block pattern. The design consists of 48 individual square blocks arranged in a six-by-eight grid. Each block is set against a solid vibrant red cotton ground. The blocks utilize a diverse array of scrap fabrics including navy blue and pink solids, black-and-white striped cotton, various gingham checks, plaid flannels, and paisley printed cotton. The construction includes hand-pieced patchwork and hand-quilting executed in a traditional fan or shell motif with large, functional stitches in dark thread. The reverse side consists of a solid bright teal-blue cotton backing. The interior is filled with cotton batting.
