Description
48 x 64 This vintage American child or crib quilt features fifteen hand-pieced blocks arranged in a three-by-five grid. The blocks are a variation of the Churn Dash or Monkey Wrench pattern, constructed as nine-patches using dusty pink and off-white cotton fabrics. Each block is composed of half-square triangles at the corners, solid off-white side squares, and a solid pink central square. The blocks are separated by dusty pink sashing and finished with a thin, hand-applied off-white binding. The piece is extensively hand-quilted with an interlocking cable or continuous circle motif in the sashing and a diagonal diamond grid pattern within the pieced blocks. The reverse consists of a solid off-white cotton fabric that clearly shows the hand-stitched quilting lines. The internal batting appears to be a thin layer of cotton.
