Description

66 x 82 This is a double-sided patchwork scrap quilt, hand-pieced and hand-tied, dating to approximately the 1940s or 1950s. The quilt features two distinct patterns on its opposing sides. One side is constructed of vertical columns of diamond-in-a-square blocks, where various printed fabric squares are set on point and framed by corner triangles. These columns are separated by wide, solid light-lavender sashing. The reverse side features a Log Cabin pattern, with each block centered by a lavender square and surrounded by concentric strips of assorted printed fabrics. The fabrics used throughout the quilt are a mixture of cotton and cotton-blend scraps, including calicos, florals, ginghams, and solids. The quilt is hand-tied at the center of each block on both sides to secure the internal batting and is finished with a solid light-blue fabric binding along the edges.
