Description
64 x 84 A vintage cotton quilt featuring the traditional Grandmothers Flower Garden pattern. The quilt is hand-assembled using small hexagonal fabric patches to create a series of floral motifs. The central rectangular field is composed of a lavender and white polka-dot background, accented with flower designs in various purple, pink, and floral prints. This central area is surrounded by a wide border with a pale yellow ground and blue-and-white floral motifs. The outermost border consists of red-toned flowers against mixed backgrounds, terminating in a naturally scalloped edge formed by the hexagonal patches. The item is hand-quilted with stitching that follows the contours of each hexagon. The reverse side is finished with a plain, off-white cotton backing constructed from two panels joined by a vertical center seam. The materials consist of various printed and solid cotton fabrics, including florals, polka dots, and geometric patterns typical of the mid-20th century.
