Description
This lot features a pair of high-quality miniature axes presented in a professional shadow box display. The pieces are designed as miniatures of the historic Kelly Axe Mfg. Co. Perfect Axe. Each axe head is constructed of polished steel with a high-mirror finish, fitted to carved hardwood handles with a fine, dark grain. The items are mounted against a textured white fibrous background within a black composite shadow box frame with a glass front. The larger axe head features detailed etched markings reading: W. C. KELLY’S PERFECT AXE, MADE BY KELLY AXE MFG. CO. LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY U.S.A. It further includes the patent dates PATENTED MAY 7TH 1889 and APRIL 29TH 1890. The smaller axe contains a scaled-down version of the same logo and company information. These items are contemporary collector’s miniatures crafted as tributes to the original tools produced by the Kelly Axe Mfg. Co. during their operation in Louisville, Kentucky.
