Description
American Girl brand toy sewing machine, a model often associated with the 1930s. The machine is constructed of a cast metal body with a black enamel finish, mounted on a rectangular wooden base. The brand name AMERICAN GIRL is applied in gold-toned script on the side of the arm. The unit features a polished metal faceplate, needle bar, and presser foot. It is operated by a manual metal handwheel with a black handle. The underside of the machine reveals a drive shaft and chain-link mechanism designed for a single-thread chain stitch. The top of the machine includes a vertical spool pin, currently holding a wooden spool, and a thread tensioning assembly.
