Description
This lot consists of a pair of Italian-style stiletto automatic folding knives of varying sizes and handle materials. The larger knife features dark handle scales with natural graining, likely bovine horn or a similar natural material, secured to brass liners with brass pins. It is equipped with a swivel-bolster locking mechanism, a large circular firing button, and a sliding safety switch. The bayonet-profile blade on this larger example bears a tang stamp consisting of a diamond-shaped border containing the word IMPORT. The smaller knife is fitted with marbled black and white scales, likely celluloid or plastic, and features a drop-point blade. The tang of the smaller knife is stamped on two lines with G.L.Co over ITALY. Both knives utilize traditional Italian construction featuring polished metal bolsters and folding crossguards. The knives show characteristics consistent with mid-20th-century export production from the Maniago region of Italy. The mechanical actions appear to function, though they have not been formally tested for spring strength or locking reliability.
