Description
This lot comprises three pieces of American utility pottery including two-tone stoneware and a marked Hull Pottery vessel. The collection includes a small, bulbous individual bean pot manufactured by Hull Pottery, finished in a glossy dark brown glaze with a contrasting tan mottled drip glaze at the rim. The base of the bean pot is incised with the hull mark, copyright symbol, Oven Proof in script, and U.S.A. The collection further includes a large two-tone stoneware pitcher and a matching two-tone cylindrical storage crock. Both pieces feature a dark chocolate brown upper portion and handle over a cream-white lower body, with brown glazed interiors. These two-tone pieces are unmarked but are in the style of mid-20th century regional potteries like Robinson Ransbottom or McCoy. The lower white sections show an orange peel texture and minor firing pits typical of this style of stoneware.
