Description
This is an antique manual clothes wringer with an integrated folding bench, manufactured by the Lovell Manufacturing Company of Erie, Pennsylvania. The unit is constructed primarily of hardwood with a natural finish and features cast iron hardware throughout. The wringer mechanism consists of two horizontal rollers operated by a hand crank with a wooden handle. Ornate cast iron tension screws with finger grips are mounted at the top of the frame. The integrated bench is designed to fold for storage and extend to support wash tubs, secured by a series of metal hinges and hooks. Extensive stenciled markings are visible across the frame. The top rail and side supports are marked ANCHOR BRAND. The drip tray features the text ANCHOR BRAND CLOTHES WRINGER with an anchor logo, along with the slogans WARRANTED 5 YEARS and BEST ON EARTH. One side support is stenciled COGWHEEL SHIELDS PAT. MAY 5th 1896 followed by ANCHOR BRAND FOLDING BENCH WRINGER. The lower frame rail is marked LOVELL MANUFACTURING CO. and the side uprights include the Anchor Brand logo with L. M. CO. ERIE, PA.
