Description
This is a Doodlebug Spe-da-way hand-propelled child’s riding toy, commonly referred to as an Irish Mail or row-cycle. The vehicle features a metal frame constructed from a combination of tubular and flat-stock steel, finished in yellow and black paint. The toy is equipped with four metal spoked wheels painted red with solid black rubber tires. The red molded metal pan seat displays the brand name Doodlebug in white script with SPE DA WAY in yellow capital letters below. The steering and propulsion assembly consists of a tall black metal handlebar topped with two turned wooden grips. The hand-operated mechanism uses a push-pull motion that moves a connecting rod to rotate a central black drive wheel. A rubber drive belt transfers power from the drive wheel pulley to the rear axle pulley to propel the vehicle forward.
