Description
This large-scale decorative floor sculpture features a silver-toned eagle with its wings outspread, perched atop a textured, rocky outcropping. The eagle is rendered with meticulous detail, showing individual feathers and a high-polish, reflective finish. Based on visual consensus from historical auction records for identical models, this work is attributed to A. Giannelli (Italian, b. 1907) and is likely constructed of a sterling silver-plated or sterling-clad material over a cast core. The eagle and its rocky base rest upon a separate fluted column pedestal with a contrasting brass or gold-toned metallic finish. The pedestal features a square base decorated with etched geometric starburst motifs. While visual matches suggest an artist signature may be present on the rocky base, it is not clearly legible in the provided images. A lot tag numbered 147 is attached to the piece.
