Description
This hand-painted figurine depicts an American Woodcock in a perched position upon a naturalistic base modeled to resemble a weathered log. The bird features realistic anatomical details including a long, tapered bill and large, dark eyes. The plumage is painted with a variety of brown, tan, and charcoal tones to mimic the bird’s natural camouflage. The underside of the base is covered in dark brown felt and features a gold-toned rectangular label printed with: American Woodcock by Ernest Muehlmatt / HAND-PAINTED / ? 1983 THE FRANKLIN GALLERY. A small piece of white string remains attached to the bird’s underside.
