Description
This collection includes several vintage barber shop and apothecary items primarily dating from the mid-20th century. The centerpiece is a large clear glass Herpicide Disinfecting System jar with a metal lid and internal plunger rod, featuring red screen-printed text and a cross logo. The group contains two Jeris brand clear glass bottles with ribbed necks: one labeled Lilac Toilet Water and the other Antiseptic Hair Tonic. Additional grooming products include a rectangular clear glass Lucky Tiger Hair Tonic bottle from Kansas City, Missouri; a brown glass Wildroot Hair Formula bottle from Buffalo, New York; and a clear glass Koken KDX Dandruff Remover bottle from St. Louis. An amber glass bottle from the United Drug Company features a pictorial label of a woman with long hair and is marketed for dandruff and falling hair. The smallest item is a clear glass Cary Lee Brilliantine bottle with an Art Deco-style label depicting a couple. One additional small clear glass bottle is included in the group. Several bottles retain original liquid contents or chemical residues, including blue crystalline salts in the disinfecting jar.
