Description
This collection includes a variety of mid-20th-century grooming and barbering products. Notable items include a Gillette safety razor set in a brown textured case with a metal double-edge razor and a blue Thin Double-Edge Blade wrapper. Two lithographed talcum tins are present: a green-striped Palmolive After Shaving Talc tin and a Mennen’s Violet Talcum tin with a portrait of Gerhard Mennen. Hardware includes a set of manual metal spring-action hair clippers and a rectangular metal tray featuring a Greek key pattern and a circular logo depicting a bearded man. Tools for the trade consist of a large wooden-handled barber’s neck brush with natural bristles and a dark-stained wooden hand mirror. Advertising and ephemera include a Marlin single-edge blades packet, a Vaseline Hair Tonic matchbook-style promotional item, and a Gillette blade matchbook. Other items comprise a white Roux hair crayon tube, a straight razor with a white handle and a Hand Forged mark on the tang, a small cream-colored brush with black bristles, a shaving soap puck, and a glass vial resting in a square glass ashtray with a label for Eddie’s Fine Food and Liquors. Yellow inventory stickers numbered 80 and 147 are affixed to the mirror and neck brush handle.
