Lot 303:
MCM Carved Wood Horse Wall Sculpture
Sold for: $20
Description
32 inches long; 13 inches high. This stylized wall sculpture depicts a horse in a dynamic, galloping pose, constructed from multiple joined sections of solid wood with a polished amber finish. The piece reflects Mid-Century Modern design principles, utilizing smooth, rounded contours and a minimalist anatomical form to suggest movement. The sculpture incorporates mixed media elements, including a brown horsehair mane and tail, and a black plastic or resin eye. A functional bridle made of dark brown leather straps is fitted to the head, featuring a circular metal bit ring and adjustable leather ties. The head is detailed with a carved open mouth. The reverse side is flat for wall mounting, though no specific mounting hardware is visible in the provided images. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are present on the visible surfaces.
