Description
A 1989 Steiff limited edition circus set from the Golden Age of the Circus series, designated as the fourth in a series of five. The set comprises a mohair tiger and a handmade wooden circus wagon. The tiger is a reproduction of a 1954 design, featuring orange and black striped mohair fur, a white muzzle with whiskers, and green eyes. The tiger bears a white fabric ear tag attached with a metal button, printed with the Steiff bear logo and the words Steiff and KNOPF IM OHR. The circus wagon is constructed of wood and metal, featuring a black arched header with gilded text reading STEIFF CIRCUS above a silver-toned relief-carved lion mask. The cage is finished in red and yellow with green accents and vertical metal bars. Lower side panels are inscribed with Bengal Tiger in white script. The wagon sits on four black spoked wheels with red and white decorative transitions. Included is a printed Certificate of Authenticity identifying this set as a mohair reproduction limited to 5,000 sets. The original illustrated cardboard packaging is present, featuring the Steiff logo and series title.
