Description
This lot consists of five assorted advertising signs related to automotive lubricants and petroleum products. The largest piece is a circular porcelain enamel sign for Texaco, featuring a central red star with a green capital letter T. The outer border is red with white lettering reading THE TEXAS COMPANY U.S.A. and PETROLEUM PRODUCTS. A small printed mark below the star reads REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. A rectangular yellow and red sign features the Shell logo with red block lettering reading SHELL and script at the base reading Fill up from the pump!. A rectangular French porcelain enamel sign for Castrol is decorated with red and yellow sections and black text reading HUILE CASTROL POUR MOTEURS. Small black printed text at the bottom left reads EN VENTE ICI and HERMANS-PARIS, and at the bottom right reads EMAIL JAPY. A circular tin sign for Texaco features a white, grey, and black design with the text GASOLINE FILLING STATION and TEXACO MOTOR OILS. A printed trademark notice at the bottom edge reads Texaco trademarks are used by permission of and Marketing Inc. Produced by Desperate Enterprises, Inc. A rectangular tin sign for Lucas Oil Products features a shield-shaped logo with American and checkered flags, reading HI-PERFORMANCE LUCAS OIL PRODUCTS INC. in red and blue. Large Texaco sign measures 15 inches in diameter. Shell sign measures 13 3/4 inches by 9 1/4 inches. French Castrol sign measures 8 3/4 inches by 13 inches.
