Description
A pair of Swedish full lead crystal art glass sculptures featuring wildlife subjects. Each piece is constructed from a clear crystal block with an irregular, ice-like textured perimeter surrounding a frosted intaglio (reverse-carved) scene. The first sculpture depicts three owlets huddled together in a nest-like setting. The base of this piece features a hand-incised signature reading Mats Jonasson 3537 and a square black and silver foil adhesive label with a stylized MJ monogram that reads MATS JONASSON SWEDEN FULL LEAD. The second sculpture is a profile study of an eagle perched upon a branch. This piece is signed on the base with a hand-incised Mats Jonasson 3574 and bears a matching black and silver foil label reading MATS JONASSON SWEDEN FULL LEAD. Both pieces exhibit the high clarity and weight characteristic of lead crystal. Owl sculpture measures approximately 4.25 inches wide and 4.5 inches high. Eagle sculpture measures approximately 3.5 inches wide and 5 inches high.
