Description
An Imperial Austro-Hungarian double-headed eagle applique, constructed using silver-toned metallic bullion wire. This large-scale piece was likely used for a significant military accessory such as an officer’s saddle cloth or a ceremonial drum apron. The eagle is depicted in a traditional heraldic pose with wings spread and two heads facing outward, featuring red thread accents in the beaks. The construction uses various textures of bullion wire to simulate feathers and anatomical details. The reverse shows a light-colored textile backing with visible hand-stitching used to secure the bullion to the foundation. No manufacturer marks, labels, or country-of-origin marks are visible. The item measures approximately 9 inches (23 cm) across the wings and approximately 7.5 inches (19 cm) in height from the top of the heads to the base of the tail.
