Lot 176:
Description
This hand-knotted tribal runner rug is constructed with a wool pile on a cotton foundation. The design features a deep indigo field anchored by a large central stepped hexagonal medallion in madder red, pink, and ivory, containing nested geometric shapes. The central medallion is flanked by two smaller secondary diamond medallions. The field is further decorated with scattered cruciform motifs, geometric stars, and small floral abstractions. The composition is enclosed by a multi-layered geometric border, featuring a primary band of repeating star-and-bar motifs in red, blue, and ivory. The back of the rug displays a clear representation of the front-facing pattern, confirming its hand-knotted construction.42×74
