Description
A late nineteenth to early twentieth century folk art wood frame executed in the tramp art tradition. The frame features a rustic cross-corner construction with overlapping joints and is decorated with extensive notch-carving along the rails. The four corners are further embellished with hand-carved maple leaf overlays. A gilded wood slip is set into the inner sight edge of the dark-stained frame. The reverse of the frame shows simple joinery. No other marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on the object. 14×17.25 in picture will fit.
