Lot 150G:
Description
A three-piece costume jewelry set in a gold-tone base metal, consisting of a figural brooch and a pair of matching clip-on earrings. The brooch is designed in three dimensions to depict a teacup resting on a saucer. The teacup is constructed from a tiered mesh of clear round brilliant-cut rhinestones, topped with a rim of amber-toned stones and featuring a handle formed from graduated amber teardrop-shaped stones. The saucer element displays a sunburst arrangement of marquise-cut yellow glass stones within a circular border of round amber stones. The matching earrings are composed of layered, soldered cup-chain sections featuring amber and yellow rhinestones in a geometric, foliate-inspired form. The reverse of the brooch and both earrings have been examined; the gold-tone metal backings and clips are plain and devoid of any legible maker marks, signatures, or country-of-origin stamps. The construction utilizes a complex soldered cup-chain assembly typical of mid-twentieth-century manufacturing.
