Description
A carved Chinese Shoushan stone seal featuring natural tri-color mottling in shades of russet red, gray-green, and pale cream. The stone exhibits a characteristic waxy luster. The seal is topped with an intricately carved finial in high relief with pierced openwork, depicting a mythical creature twisting amongst stylized roiling waves and clouds. The rectangular body of the seal is polished smooth. The underside features four incised characters in seal script, which are currently obscured by a thick accumulation of dried red cinnabar seal paste. 3.5 in high
