Description
This hand-carved wooden wall plaque is a work of Jamaican folk art, featuring a stylized portrait of a man with dreadlocks surmounted by a large pineapple. The piece is constructed from wood and utilizes a two-tone finish to define its features. A medium-brown natural wood tone is used for the facial features and the body of the pineapple, while a dark, near-black stain highlights the dreadlocks and the pineapple crown. The entire surface exhibits prominent, visible hand-chisel marks, characteristic of traditional Caribbean folk carving techniques. The finish has a soft, lustrous sheen. 7×19 in
