Description
This is a Dietz Vesta railroad lantern manufactured by the R.E. Dietz Company for the New York Central Lines (NYCL). The lantern features a steel and iron frame construction with a protective wire cage surrounding a clear glass globe. The frame shoulder is stamped N.Y.C.L. and the top cap is embossed with the Dietz Vesta trademark and New York location. The clear glass globe is embossed with NYCLINES on one side and Dietz Vesta New York U.S.A. on the reverse. The design includes a top chimney with circular ventilation holes, a bail handle for carrying, and a corrugated fuel fount at the base. The interior retains its burner assembly and wick.
