Description

This white Wolseley pattern sun helmet is attributed to the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC). The helmet is constructed of multiple panels with a matching puggaree band. Centrally mounted on the front is a silver-toned badge featuring a stylized, intertwined RP monogram surmounted by the St. Edward?s Crown and enclosed within a laurel wreath. The interior of the helmet is finished with a green lining to the brim and crown. It retains its original tan leather sweatband and a white leather chinstrap with a metal buckle. A manufacturer label is affixed inside the crown for Mountcastle Pty. Ltd., located at 119 Melbourne Street, South Brisbane, Queensland 4101, Australia. The inclusion of the four-digit postcode indicates the item was manufactured after the 1967 introduction of the Australian postcode system. The tan leather sweatband is marked with the handwritten name P STEWARD in black ink. 8 in high
