Description
A collection of European and American military artifacts including Third Reich field gear, Imperial German commemorative medals, and United States Army personal items. The group includes a Waffen-SS combat-grade belt buckle constructed of zinc or aluminum, featuring the motto Meine Ehre hei?t Treue surrounding a central national eagle and swastika. Also included is a single NCO slip-on shoulder board made of black wool with metallic silver braid and red embroidered SS runes. Two pieces of cloth insignia are present: a machine-embroidered silver-thread eagle on black wool and a gold-thread eagle on dark green wool. The collection contains several medals and awards: a bronze commemorative medal for the Hanoverian 73rd Fusilier Regiment dated 1903 with an attached pin-back tag marked 73; a Kyffh?userbund Merit Cross in darkened metal inscribed F?r Verdienst im Kriegervereinswesen with the Kyffh?user monument depicted on the reverse; a silver-colored German Infantry Assault Badge; and a United States Combat Infantryman Badge in blue enamel and silver-toned metal. Personal items include a 1940-pattern US military identification tag for William E. Robinson of Denver, Colorado, with a 1941 tetanus shot date. Accompanying the identification tag are four chrome-plated inert dummy cartridges with drilled holes and a lead projectile. The ephemera consists of a black and white photograph mounted on cardstock showing a military formation marching on a city street, with handwritten notes on the reverse identifying a soldier in the 173rd Battalion. A heavily worn copper-alloy coin with a partial Ludovicus inscription is also included.
