Description
This lot consists of two antique homespun linen textile pieces, likely 19th-century domestic linens such as show towels or runners. Both items are constructed from hand-loomed linen in a natural off-white color, displaying the characteristic slubs and irregular weave indicative of hand-spun yarn. The textiles are decorated with hand-embroidered red cross-stitch motifs and initials. The first piece is a long panel featuring a fringed end. It is decorated with three distinct red cross-stitch elements: a stylized letter S, a geometric diamond-shaped motif with points at the corners, and a stylized letter V. A modern paper tag attached with a safety pin identifies it as a homespun towel. The second piece is a rectangular panel or runner with two raw edges. It features a rectangular red cross-stitch border enclosing the initials S and R, separated by a central mark.
