Description
This lot features two antique American yellowware food molds, commonly known as Turks Head or Gugelhupf molds, finished with traditional Rockingham glazes. Both pieces are constructed from yellow-ochre clay bodies and decorated with mottled manganese glazes in varying shades of chocolate brown and golden yellow. The first mold is a circular form with a flared exterior and a central fluted cone featuring a small circular vent at the top. The glaze on this piece is applied in a speckled or sponged pattern. The second mold features prominent diagonal interior fluting that creates a swirled design. Its glaze exhibits a dripped aesthetic, with dark brown streaks flowing over a lighter base. The central cone of the swirled mold has a wider opening than its counterpart. Both items have unglazed bases with small, illegible yellow paper labels affixed. There are no visible impressed or stamped maker marks. 9.5×3.5 and 8×3.5
