Description
This American cotton quilt is a hand-crafted piece featuring a four-block configuration. Each block contains a stylized foliate or plume applique motif centered on a diamond patch with four radiating scalloped sections. The applique work utilizes an assortment of mid-century scrap fabrics, including purple and red ginghams, small-scale floral prints in pink and blue, and solid pastel tones. A dark, contrasting decorative blanket stitch defines the edges of each applique piece. The blocks are divided by wide horizontal and vertical blue fabric sashing. The quilt is finished with hand-worked diamond grid quilting throughout the front and the plain white reverse side. The construction is entirely hand-stitched. 60×76
