Description
This Griswold No. 8 Tite-Top cast iron Dutch oven is a complete set consisting of the pot, matching high-dome lid, and wire bail handle. The lid features raised lettering reading GRISWOLD, No 8, and TITE-TOP DUTCH OVEN. The base of the pot is marked with the Griswold large block logo, which displays a cross inside a double circle. Transcribed markings on the bottom include CAST IRON, 8, DUTCH OVEN, ERIE PA., U.S.A., and the pattern number 1278. It also bears the patent date 1,333,917, referring to the 1920 patent for the self-basting lid design. The pot is constructed with two integral side ears for the wire bail handle and features a machined, smooth interior cooking surface typical of early to mid-20th-century Griswold production.
