Lot 62:
Description
10in tall A relief-molded pedestal jar or urn, in the style of Alexander Backer, crafted from a composite resin or unglazed ceramic. The exterior features a continuous frieze of cherubs or putti depicted in various active poses within a landscape of trees and foliage. The high-relief molding is accentuated with a brown-toned wash in the recessed areas to provide an antiqued finish. The neck and the flared pedestal foot are both decorated with a matching repeating diamond-point geometric border. The interior rim is molded with a recessed shelf to accommodate a lid, which is not present. A single circular hole is located in the center of the base. No manufacturer marks, stamps, or artist signatures are visible on the object.
