Lot 496:
Description
A collection of nine vintage figural glass fragrance decanters manufactured by Avon Products, Inc., designed in the form of various collectible automobiles. The bottles are made of molded glass in a range of colors, including opaque red, dark brown, black, and translucent blue. One vehicle features a silver-painted exterior. The designs incorporate plastic components for parts such as roofs, seat inserts, and bumpers, with screw-on caps often disguised as spare tires or vehicle parts. Models represented include a Stutz Bearcat style roadster, a 1930s Duesenberg, a Jeep Dispatcher mail truck with United States Postal Service livery, a Stanley Steamer, and a Woodie station wagon. Markings include a paper base label on the red speedster identifying it as Avon Island After Shave with a volume of 6 fl. oz., and the molded name AVON on the front of the silver-painted car. These bottles were originally used to contain aftershave or cologne products.
