Description
A trio of decorative hardstone carvings executed in a traditional Chinese style. The lot includes an elongated, openwork carving of a dragon rendered in a pale greenish-white hardstone, possibly serpentine or soapstone, featuring mottled grey and faint purple inclusions throughout. The dragon is depicted in a sinuous pose with detailed scales and a flowing mane, resting on a carved base representing stylized clouds or waves. The second carving is a foliate piece representing a large flower or cabbage, a traditional Chinese motif for wealth. It is crafted from a variegated green and white hardstone with prominent dark green veining, featuring multiple layers of overlapping petals or leaves. The third item is a carving of a crouching mythical beast, possibly a Pixiu or dragon-headed creature, carved from a speckled grey and black stone with a granular texture characteristic of an igneous rock such as granite. The form focuses on a powerful silhouette with less fine detail than the accompanying pieces. No maker marks, factory stamps, signatures, or labels are visible on any of the three items.
