Lot 432:
6 Stone & Mineral Animal/Deity Figures
Sold for: $15
Description
A group of six small-scale animal and deity carvings executed in various stones and minerals. The collection includes a detailed dragon head with prominent horns and textured scales carved from a greenish-brown stone, possibly soapstone or serpentine, with a waxy luster. Also featured is a seated canine figure with finely incised fur detail carved from a mottled gray-green and white stone; a rounded figure of a curled mythical creature in a mottled light green and white stone; and a realistic fish carving with deep relief scales and fins in a brownish-gray stone with white highlights. The collection is completed by a seated figure of the Hindu deity Ganesha with multiple arms and an elephant head carved from a dark mottled hardstone, and a stylized elephant carving with a highly porous texture and a vibrant pink saturated color, likely dyed volcanic rock or pumice. A visual inspection reveals no factory marks, signatures, or identifying inscriptions on any of the pieces. 4.5 to 6 in long
