Description
This collection consists of several pieces of American silver and silver-plated holloware. Included is a weighted sterling silver candlestick by the Alvin Silver Company, featuring a flared candle cup and circular base with gadrooned borders. The underside is stamped ALVIN, STERLING, CEMENT FILLED, REINFORCED, WITH ROD OF, OTHER METAL. Also included are two silver electroplate items by the Gorham Manufacturing Company: a pedestal bowl with a flared rim and an expandable circular trivet with an ornate pierced and chased scroll and floral design. The bowl is stamped GORHAM, E P, 0779, and the trivet is marked with a script Gorham signature, E [anchor symbol] P, and model number 49-1. Both Gorham pieces have a large X manually scratched over the factory marks. The group is completed by a matching silver-plated creamer and open sugar bowl by W.M. Rogers, each featuring bulbous bodies and scrolled handles. Both Rogers pieces are stamped W.M. ROGERS with a star symbol on the underside. .
