Lot 32:
Description
7 in long This mid-twentieth century American pressed glass two-piece covered dish is designed in the Hen on Nest form. Based on the olive green color and the specific beaded rim ornamentation, the piece is attributed to the Indiana Glass Company. The lid is molded as a nesting hen with detailed feathering on the body and wings, a fanned vertical tail, and molded facial features including the eyes, comb, and wattles. The oval base features an exterior basketweave texture and a continuous beaded edge along the rim. The glass is a translucent olive green, often cataloged as avocado. The interior of the bowl and the center of the underside are smooth. No maker marks or signatures are present on either piece.
