Lot 13:
Description
This decorative vase is constructed from molded resin in imitation of carved ivory. The piece features a flared rim decorated with an incised Greek key pattern. Below the rim, the neck is adorned with twin handles in the form of elephant heads with curved trunks. The body of the vase is decorated with high-relief scenes within decorative cartouches. One side depicts figures in a garden with a pavilion and flowering trees, while the opposite side shows figures near a crenelated city wall and gatehouse. The panels are set against a textured diaper-pattern ground typical of traditional Chinese decorative arts. The vase is accompanied by a dark-toned, pierced circular display stand. The underside of the base is incised with the letters E and K in a block font.
