Description
19 inches. A novelty coin bank in the form of a stylized sitting frog, constructed of hand-painted chalkware or heavy plaster. The figure features an expressive face with oversized red eyes, black pupils, and a wide yellow mouth area accented with a bright red smile and nostrils. The frog’s chest is decorated with a yellow bib-style panel featuring a red folk-art flower and leaf motif outlined with a black chain pattern. The body is finished in a vibrant green with irregular black spots scattered across the back and sides. A coin slot is located at the top of the head between the eyes. The flat base is unglazed, showing the white plaster core and a faint, unidentifiable marking near the center.
