Description
This 1915 edition of Health and Longevity is a comprehensive medical and wellness volume authored by Joseph G. Richardson, M.D., Professor of Hygiene at the University of Pennsylvania, with contributions from a staff of twenty international medical specialists. The work was published by the Home Health Society with offices in Philadelphia, New York, and London. The title page identifies this as the 1915 Edition, following a 1909 copyright by Edward J. Stanley. The volume is bound in brown leather with gilt-stamped lettering and decorative blind-stamping on the front board and spine. The cover states the work is fully illustrated and contains fifteen books in one volume. The internal contents include numerous illustrations, most notably multi-layered, color fold-out anatomical manikin charts of the human torso. Other illustrations include colored botanical plates of medicinal plants such as Tansy, Fennel, and Wood sorrel, and various black and white anatomical engravings. The text includes illustrations of the pioneering bodybuilder Eugen Sandow. Contributing specialists listed on the title page include Hideyo Noguchi, M.D., and experts from medical institutions in Vienna, Dresden, St. Petersburg, and Paris. The volume is a large quarto format.
