Description
55 x 68 This antique alphabet quilt features a complete set of uppercase letters (A-Z) appliqued in a medium-blue cotton fabric onto a cream-colored cotton ground. The unique typographic layout is organized in five rows with a sixth centered letter at the bottom. The central vertical column contains the letters C, H, M, R, W, and Z, flanked by the remaining letters in four symmetrical columns. The piece is distinguished by exceptionally dense and meticulous hand-quilting, featuring horizontal parallel lines across the background and detailed contour echo quilting surrounding each letter, creating a three-dimensional effect. The quilt is constructed with small blue accent squares pieced into a grid pattern that defines the letter placement and is finished with a narrow blue binding in a matching fabric. The reverse side is a plain cream-colored fabric that showcases the intricate hand-stitched quilting patterns.
