Lot 46:
Description
84 x 96 This is a 19th-century American hand-woven overshot coverlet, a traditional domestic textile constructed from two separate panels joined by a hand-sewn center vertical seam. The item is woven with a natural cotton warp and dyed wool weft, featuring a complex geometric pattern of repeating eight-pointed stars. These stars are arranged in alternating horizontal rows of red and olive green, separated by thin golden-yellow bands. The textile is finished with an integrated self-fringe on three sides.
