Description
46 x 52 This vintage handmade yo-yo quilt or coverlet is constructed from numerous small, gathered circles of fabric, known as yo-yos, which are joined together at their edges to create a continuous mesh-like textile. The piece features a diverse multi-colored patchwork design utilizing various fabric scraps, including cotton, synthetics, and several patterns of double-knit material. The patterns include solid colors, stripes, checks, florals, and abstract prints. A fabric maker label is sewn onto the piece, featuring the words Specially Fashioned in red script above by Victoria Campbell, also in red script. The label has a yellow background with red floral and cross-hatch decorative motifs. The variety of synthetic and knit fabrics suggests a mid to late 20th-century origin, likely between the 1960s and 1980s.
