Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 407:
Description
76 x 80 This is a vintage unfinished patchwork quilt top of American origin, likely dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. The piece is hand-pieced from a diverse array of scrap fabrics, including cotton prints, florals, stripes, and 1960s to 1970s style paisleys. The design features large eight-pointed star motifs, commonly known as LeMoyne Stars, integrated with sections of irregular crazy quilt patchwork and simple square blocks. The construction utilizes visible, irregular running stitches to join the various textile scraps. As an unfinished top, the edges are raw and unhemmed.
