Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 390:
Description
36 x 52 This vintage American quilt is hand-pieced and hand-quilted in the traditional Lone Star pattern, also referred to as the Star of Bethlehem. The design features a large central eight-point star composed of concentric rings of diamond-shaped fabric patches radiating from a central white star. The construction utilizes a wide variety of scrap fabrics, including mid-20th-century cotton calicos, ginghams, plaids, and floral prints in a multi-colored palette. The piece is hand-quilted with straight-line stitching that follows the diamond geometry of the patches. The reverse side is backed with white cotton fabric featuring a small, repeating pink rosebud floral print. No maker marks or signatures are present; a small blank white hangtag is attached to one corner.
