Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 373:
Description
82 x 96 This textile is a hand-pieced quilt top featuring a geometric lattice design. The construction utilizes solid red and off-white or white cotton fabrics, with small diamond-shaped accents made from a patterned cotton fabric featuring horizontal stripes of red, green, and white with decorative motifs. The primary design consists of a diagonal grid formed by red cotton bands. Within each resulting square is a secondary motif: a red-framed white field containing the small printed diamond patch. The piece is finished with a wide red inner border and a final outer border of white cotton. The construction is hand-stitched throughout using a simple running stitch. The reverse side of the textile reveals raw seam allowances and the hand-sewn nature of the assembly. This item is an unfinished project, lacking batting, backing, quilting, and binding.
