Description
70 x 76 A vintage hand-stitched cotton quilt featuring a checkerboard layout of alternating solid mustard-gold and white fabric blocks. Each white square contains a centrally positioned hand-embroidered motif of a flower basket. The baskets are rendered in gold embroidery thread, topped with a light blue ribbon bow, and filled with an assortment of multicolored flowers in red, blue, purple, and yellow hues with green foliate accents. The embroidery is executed with traditional techniques including stem stitching and French knots. The quilting is performed entirely by hand with fine, consistent stitches. The white squares are quilted in a diagonal diamond grid, while the mustard-gold squares feature a central circular medallion motif with stylized floral petals. The reverse side consists of a solid off-white cotton fabric that highlights the hand-quilting stitches.
