Lot 349:
Description
86 x 90 A hand-pieced unfinished quilt top featuring the traditional Grandmother’s Flower Garden pattern. The design is composed of numerous hexagonal floral motifs, each typically centered with a yellow hexagon surrounded by two rings of contrasting printed or solid fabrics. These floral units are joined together by a background of white hexagonal pieces. The textile is constructed from an assortment of cotton and cotton-blend fabrics, including calico prints, ginghams, and solids. Notable fabric patterns include mid-to-late 20th-century stylized rainbows and trees, alongside various floral sprays. The piece is entirely hand-assembled using a running stitch, which is visible on the reverse side of the textile.
