Description
70 x 74 This American traditional bed quilt features a checkerboard layout of alternating blue and white blocks. Within this grid, four blocks contain hand-pieced eight-pointed stars in the Evening Star or Sawtooth Star pattern. One star block is a saturated red, while the other three have faded to a light pink. The white blocks are constructed from various calico fabrics featuring small-scale geometric and floral prints. The entire piece is hand-quilted with blue thread in a diagonal diamond cross-hatch pattern, visible on both the patterned front and the plain white cotton reverse side. The central field is framed by a narrow white inner border and a wider blue outer border featuring a repeating circular floral print. The quilt is finished with a blue and white patterned fabric binding.
