Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 324:
Description
64 x 74 This mid-20th-century American patchwork quilt is constructed in a Rail Fence pattern. The design features square blocks composed of three rectangular fabric strips, with the blocks arranged in alternating horizontal and vertical orientations to create a woven effect. The quilt is made from an assortment of scrap fabrics, including burgundy, green, pink, and orange silk or rayon satins, various floral-printed cottons, and a navy-blue novelty print featuring multi-colored stylized fans or lollipops. The quilt is machine-sewn throughout, utilizing a prominent white zigzag stitch to join the patches and secure the top to the backing. The reverse is finished with a solid light-pink cotton fabric.
